The Last Hurrah

With the holiday gone it's about time to head home but not without one last hurrah filled with photos. And though I'm not looking forward to returning to the 80 degree weather, I am looking forward to more pregnancy filled posts.

A Room With A View

With our vacation coming to an end we're trying to fit as much sit seeing in to ''impress'' Aiden (which is a lost cause by the way). We took him up to the top of the mountain behind the house and show him the view, turns out he was more interested in the reflector he found sitting on the side of the road. Hey, we tried. I paired my newly acquired cape with a sweater dress, tights and slouchy leather boots for the short trek.

Pretty in Plaid

Hopefully everyone had a lovely (and filling) Thanksgiving and is being extra careful on Black Friday, it's crazy out there people! I've been enjoying my time here in the mountains with my grandparents and ''growing'' little family and I'll be sad to go in a few days. Feeling that plaid was only appropriate for the occasion I brought along my lovely Betsey Johnson dress purchased a few years ago and paired it with brown boots and tights as well as my white coat and a cozy pashmina from Thailand.

Rainy Day Spots

When I was getting dressed this morning the skies were blue and there wasn't a cloud in sight, but of course as soon as we're leaving to head to town blue turns to grey and the rain started to fall. And since I was in no mood to change I was determined to make the outfit work for the weather, especially since we were just going to get a cup of coffee and sit by the fire for a bit while my grandparents gave us a break from our "lovely toddler". Eck, am I really having another one? Well, here's to hoping I keep my sanity with an overachieving toddler and a new baby....

I love this leopard maxi, it's one of my favorite pieces in my closet right now - it's light, airy and has an elastic waistband (which is an absolute must right about now). I paired it with a belted knit sweater vest (seen here), leggings and booties. Completing the look with a leather jacket for added warmth and a ruffled bag.

Simply Noted

So far this trip has been incredibly relaxing with some help from my mom and grandmother (and of course a little retail therapy). However, since my mom left last night Aiden decided he was going to make our night and morning a living hell starting with a 5 am wake up call and running screaming. And this happens every time we visit family, joy. Loving that he started the terrible two's early!

The weather however has been gorgeous and I've been loving being able to wear sweaters and boots everyday....

Ostrich Foot

When I was a kid we used to call this tree stump an ostrich foot and it just stuck, I always love coming back and revisiting childhood memories and stories I've heard just about a million times from my grandparents.  It's amazing that I get to bring Aiden up here to make memories of his own, and he's absolutely  enjoying himself while running around the woods and throwing rocks in the stream, and this morning he redecorated the porch. On a more fashionable note, I  paired my knit vest with my cashmere green sweater dress, tights and boots.

Shearling and Camel

I was so excited when I found these over the knee faux shearling boots at Old Navy the other day on sale for $25 (they're currently having a sale for the "Adoraboots" starting at $15). They're uber comfortable and warm, and though these particular ones aren't real suede many of them are.

Comfy for Traveling

We're off on our trip today and I get to look forward to a 9 hour drive up to the mountains, so I'm relying on some seriously comfy duds (and patience) for the trying car ride with a toddler.  Fashionably speaking, I snagged this fabulous sweater the other day from Nordstrom Rack and it's perfect for my growing belly and I'm loving that it kind of has a 'tail'. For $25 you can't lose especially since I can wear it later on and it's a hit for this season's military trend. I paired it with my favorite leggings, a stretch tunic, scarf and completed with booties and a loose side braid. Simple yet put together, what do you travel in?

Ready For Baby : Diaper Bags

Ok, I've just about seen it all now and I kind of want to slap my self for not even thinking of the genius idea of a diaper clutch. I stumbled upon these incredible Diaper Clutches from PishPosh Mommy and am in love, I'll take one of each color to coordinate each outfit (before and after baby) please.  And not only do they come with a fabulous matching pad, they're super inexpensive at $24.99 a pop. So carry diapers, toys, wipes and not even let on that it's a diaper bag!
Fashionable yet functional, a new mommy's best friend.

Suspended Ruffles

I opted for a fun little look today for my midwife appointment since it's just going to be a quickie
though I'm slightly disappointed I'm not getting an ultrasound to determine the sex before our 10 day vacation...Guess I'm going to have to test out my grandmother's "old wives tale" trick, which by the way was accurate with my first pregnancy. Do you ladies believe in the old wives tales during pregnancy?

Pink and Print

I'm feeling pink today and was pleasantly surprised when my Zac Posen for Target dress still fit (and quite comfortably at that) this morning when I threw it on.

5 Under $50 - Old Navy

After a tip to check out Old Navy's maternity jeans I headed over to check out them and found some fabulous finds under $50 while I was there. My only complaint is I didn't see very many color options, and we pregnant ladies don't want to wear black and grey everyday, add some more color!

Here's 5 of the pieces that really caught my eye....

Lace and Skinny Jeans

Though I'm still managing to squeeze myself into some of my skinny jeans, the whole process is getting a little old and aggravating but thank goodness for long tunics that hide my completely unfashionable unbuttoned jean top (and you know you've done it too...). I am however loving the way this tunic is fitting at the moment, in the past it was too short to wear as a dress (unless you paired it with opaque tights) and too long to be worn with bottoms. But now that my bump brings the fabric up a little bit, viola problem solved.
